Visiting Japan is on my “To Do” list, since it’s a country I’ve long been fascinated with – particularly its history & culture.
Hopefully, I’ll be visiting in 2011. I’ve been doing some research on Japan for a while now though. A common problem I’ve noticed that some visitors have with Japan, is finding the correct building they want to visit – even though they have the exact address written down. It seems as though the Japanese address system is a bit different from most countries…
The Japanese street numbering system has puzzled me for a while, but fortunately I came across an explanation in a TED India talk which solves the mystery….
Also, it illustrates that whatever assumptions we may all bring into our daily lives, the exact opposite may equally be true.
